PM’s illegal quick fix for temple issue

Posted:18:56 Dec-24-2007 Filed under: Religion, Council

You got to be kidding. Malaysiakini reports Samy Vellu’s joke of a party has been given the task to look into the status of all Hindu temples.

The party which cannot even manage a simple thing like Maika was to submit a report on these temples to the cabinet periodically.

“I will scrutinise all matters concerning temples with a view to ensure that no temples are demolished in the future and if they have to be demolished, suitable alternative sites must be allocated so that Hindus can continue to worship,” Samy said.

Excuuuussssssee me, but I believe such a move is unconstitutional, Mr Prime Minister.

The PM has got to do better than that. The Federal Government cannot hijack the powers of local governments.

Is the PM going to break the law just for a quick fix?

Why not have community-based committees to look into such problems? Sure they’ll know more than a snob behind a desk in Putrajaya. Huh?

If the government thinks the local governments need a good kick up the bottom, it is then reasonable to assume appointed local governments are flops and it’s best to have elections for local councils.

Mr PM, are you still sleeping?
