PAS rally wants death for filmaker
Geert Wilders‘ 12-min film, Fitna, explores Kornic motivations for terrorism, Islamic universalism, and Islam in the Netherlands.
Protesters in Malaysia today called for Dutch filmmaker Geert Wilders to be sentenced to death for insulting the Koran, at a rally organised by PAS.
About 150 demonstrators marched several kilometres in the rain to the Dutch embassy from a mosque near the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, under the watchful eyes of police.
“Muslims should put out a death sentence on Wilders for slandering Islam. Wilders has insulted the Koran,” said Reduan Mohamad Nor, a senior member of PAS, which is part of opposition alliance Pakatan Rakyat.
“We are here to condemn Wilders. He has insulted our Prophet Mohammed. Are we ready to die to defend the Koran? Reduan yelled as the crowd cheered “Allahu Akbar” or “God is great”.
Muslims are angry
Reduan also called for Muslims to boycott all Dutch products over Wilders’s 17-minute film ‘Fitna’, which was released on the Internet last Thursday, triggering widespread condemnation.
A local Muslim-owned supermarket chain on Tuesday also called for a boycott of Dutch products.
All 30 stores in the Mydin chain have tagged Dutch goods with red labels to warn customers against buying products from The Netherlands.
Ismail Wahab, a 45-year-old protester at the rally, told AFP he had started to avoid Dutch products.
“Muslims are angry. We will show our solidarity by boycotting Dutch goods,” he said.
I got news for our PAS and PA bruders. This Fitna ain’t gonna be the last of numerous such perceptions of what Muslims do and preach and how the Koran is actually interpreted by a majority of ignorant Muslims. A casual search of the internet will easily turn up numerous examples of such activities by Muslims taking fanatical views and non-Muslims affirming that such views exist.
Those people calling for retaliations, boycotts or demonstrating or calling for murder are a bunch of idiots. As long as they do so, they will generate more reactions in support of such Fitna like views. Politicians and Muslims should not blindly support assholes - especially those who claim to be Muslims under a stupid idea of brotherhood, Muslim unity or dreams of miltant greatness. Keep at this shortsighted stupidity and who knows, a new Hitler may arise. All Muslims may be marked (like the Jews} and sent to extermination camps, or the religion to be banned in future. Calling for murder shows sheer bullying force and merely strengthens and proves that unreasoning fanaticism is more acceptable than doing what is right and degrades Islam’s image.
What is an intelligent and wise approach knowing that this is not going to be the last such view? Islamic religious bodies, authorities, media, ordinary Muslims and bloggers should simply acknowledge and declare that the offensive practices, happenings, preachings and interpretations happen but are evil and should be condemned and excluded from mainstream Islam. Are Muslims fair, smart and educated enough in our religion to do so? Not likely if they do not know their choices and the consequences, and continue to act, demonstrate and riot in their usual unreasonable, unacceptable, uncivilised, unjust and self-defeating manner.
When most Muslims take and express the smart option and this become the general mainstream view available, then only will the fanatical viewpoint in Fitna be seen as non-mainstream and deviant and not the majority view. Otherwise, fat hopes for any lessening of such incidents. We Muslims need to prove ourselves, not protest or terrorise opponents.
PAS as always have their usual number of self proclaimed heroic idiots and loose cannons. It seems that these clowns still have not learnt or had forgotten their lessons from their suicidal self defeating activiites before the 2004 elections, although tips begging them and the PAS leadership to rein in their behaviour had been posted in the internet after their defeat. We may say that our PM is pretty irresponsible and is blamed for lame leadership in not controlling his loose cannons but he had plenty of examples from PAS before 2004. If PM deserves to be step down for not learning the lessons of PAS and BA defeat in 2004, how about PAS or PA leadership stepping down also for not keeping their followers in line and acting on a sensible policy? Watch it PA, you are losing the plot with HP6 demos just like UMNO did. Please change your ways and do not keep repeating the same tired populist idiocies, views and brainless kneejerk fanatical Islamic politics.
Learn from the infidel US President Lincoln who was a lawyer. He acknowledged, presented the views of his opponent lawyers cases, and proved and convinced the judge and the jury that all aspects had been fairly considered and that his assessment is the proper judgement to win his cases.
Can Malaysians especially Muslim brothers and politicians ever grow up to be matured, rational and respected human beings able to present a convincing case?
Fools never learn from past mistakes - especially glaring mistakes. Be wise and learn. PAS should change and reform their members and leadership behaviour especially in regards to demonstrations, policies and who they support.
Frankly, your present approach, same like BN, is an idiots approach to solving the problem. You have been warned yet again. Make sure you listen and learn better than Big Ears.
PA and PAS should learn to be proactive and not be caught reactive to a recurring situation. Prove that you are better than BN HP6 clowns in dealing with religion and foreign affairs as a government in waiting.
