What is Anwar poking at now?
When Saiful alleged Anwar poked him, he backed that up with a police report.
In reply Anwar today lodged a report with the Federal Territory religious department against Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan for falsely accusing him of fornication.
Why is Anwar, supposedly leader of a plural opposition front, using Islamic laws to shield himself from common law?
This is very interesting and yet dangerous.

I think you missed out a lot of things in between - it was acted out mostly in Malay media and blogs.
Saiful (supposedly under police protection for threats against his life) challenged Anwar to swear on the Koran that he is innocent. That’s already bringing it into the realm of Islamic law.
Anwar could hardly just ignore it - its a big issue in the Malay community.

This is most probably a failed attempt at entrapment. If Saiful decided to entrap Anwar, then it is to be expected that he would have video recorded any sodomy act. And if there were such a recording, then it is to be expected that it would have been handed over to the police as evidence to arrest Anwar. Since there is no such video in evidence, the conclusion is that there is no such video at all. This is strong evidence that the accusation against Anwar is nothing more than a deliberate plot to arrest Anwar and distract him from his attempt to get elected and also distract him from enlisting 30 more MPs to PR side.
But this time, the court may demand evidence beyong reasonable doubt as is required by law. And since there is obviously no reasonable evidence, Anwar is safe. So Anwar should just ignore all these distractions and concentrate on getting himself elected and encouraging 30 more MPs to jump to PR.
Once he got elected and have the 30 MPs, he could then turn everything around and initiate investigations into Saiful, Bala, and everything else.
