China’s government has told discos, karaoke bars and other entertainment venues to install windows in private rooms and ensure staff dress modestly from Oct 1 as part of an effort to crack down on prostitution and drugs.

According to rules released on the Ministry of Public Security’s website (https://www.mps.gov.cn), entertainment venues must install transparent partitions between rooms that ensure “the whole environment of the consumer’s entertainment area in the room can be seen.”

“When open for business, the transparent part of rooms and windows to rooms at singing and dancing entertainment venues must not be obstructed,” the rules say. ”Continued”

Govt told to change lifestyle

Posted:17:15 Jun-5-2008 Filed under: Social

A top consumer organisation has turned the tables on the government by advising it to ‘change its lifestyle’ by cutting down on its expenses and wastage.

The Consumer Association of Penang (CAP) today urged government leaders to show leadership by example in curbing the use of official vehicles “as the rakyat has to pay for their travel cost”.

sm mohamed idris“Many of the official government vehicles use engines above 2000cc. To compound the problem, when the prime minister or one of the ministers goes for a function, an entourage often accompanies him or her, thereby increasing the use of vehicles. Is all this really necessary?” said CAP president SM Mohamed Idris.

“There are cases of people frequently leaving their car engines running with the air conditioners on; while they wait or sleep in their cars. This is usually observed with car drivers of very important persons (VIPs). By right, these people should park their cars and switch off the engines.” ”Continued”

Genius on the game

Posted:08:11 Mar-31-2008 Filed under: Social

SHE was Malaysian child maths genius who won a place at Oxford University aged just 13—but now the only sums Sufiah Yusof is interested in are the ones she earns as a HOOKER.

For sad Sufiah the daily equation she has to solve is simply sex equals £130 as she sells her body to punters over the internet.

The gifted girl with the winning smile had the world at her feet ten years ago and should be a rich woman by now—but last week she was busy subtracting her underwear for our undercover reporter in her dingy back street flat.

"Would you like to start your half hour now?" said Sufiah, 23, as she danced on the bed, displaying her body for examination.

Then she listed all the sleazy plus points she would throw in for our man if he took up her offer.

Calling herself Shilpa Lee, the former child prodigy still juggles with figures on a hookers’ website, describing herself as a "very pretty size 8, 32D bust and 5′5" tall—available for booking every day from 11am to 8pm." ”Continued”

Q&A: We will ‘pursue’ Khir Toyo

Posted:17:26 Mar-26-2008 Filed under: Social, malaysiakini, Economics, Selangor

Exclusive interview by Fauwaz Abdul Aziz, malaysiakini, Mar 26.

The new Selangor menteri besar vows to pursue the allegations of wrongdoing against his predecessor. However, Khalid Ibrahim stresses on the importance of facts, and not sentiments.

Malaysiakini: What are your short-term and long term goals for Selangor?

Khalid Ibrahim: Selangor has got opportunities as much as challenges. One of the challenges is how to accommodate the growth in population. In Selangor and Federal Territory, the Malaysian population is around five million, while the total number of people is about eight million. At least 1.5 million of these people are foreign labourers.

khalid ibrahim interview 250308 01They bring in economic resources to the state as well as social issues. I thought that over the years, if Selangor is to progress, we have to find ways and means to reduce our dependence on foreign labour. That is one of our objectives.

To solve that, I think we should also tackle the issue of employment among youth - those between the ages of 22 and 35. I want to make sure that all the youth in Selangor are eventually fully employed. What I want to do is to have a skills training programme to enhance the quality of the youth so that they can work in higher-income areas and be, for example, artisans such as specialised welders.

Young ladies can train to become nurses, dental assistants, or work as assistants in surgery rooms, for example. Young men could become audio and computer specialists, and move from low-skilled jobs to higher skilled jobs.

After two to three years in our programme, our target is for these youth to earn at least RM2,000 a month. If that happens, and say there were 500,000 youths in this programme, we would have reduced the income gap while at the same time create more consumer demand. ”Continued”

Touring Azalina

Posted:16:01 Mar-18-2008 Filed under: Social

Azalina Othman has a new position in the new cabinet and it’s not a 69.

The sexually-challenged Azalina is now, wow!, Minister of Tourism.

A very straight gf said: “Hey, maybe we can now have a Mardi Gras Gay & Lesbian Parade just like Sydney.”

Saya sokong.

I am sure the Opposition, soon to be led by Anwar, will also have no objections.

Freedom of expression mah.

Way to go, Azalina!

Dear Selangor MB,

Please declare Easter Weekend a public holiday to thank the many church cell groups who worked tirelessly to give the BN a blackeye in the elections.

Easter is more important than Christmas in the Christian calendar.

Thank you.

Giving n taking

The massive crowds at DAP ceramahs have been opening the wallets to help make changes.

On the other hand, PKR ceramahs, attended by mostly Malays, do not have the same fortune.

Some say it’s cos the Chinese are used to giving while the Malays — in PKR or otherwise — are more used to receiving.

Recreational sex

Posted:05:16 Jan-18-2008 Filed under: Social, Health

The following is a safe sex campaign video by the Ministry of Health, starring the then Minister of Health Chua Soi Lek.

The message is if you have unprotected sex with your casual sex partner, you are not just having sex with her but with all the men she has slept with.

Be wise, be safe. Safe sex is of paramount importance — even with a personal friend.
